Scottburgh’s Crocworld Conservation Centre expands roadhouse cafe menu for daily patrons

The popular Fish Eagle Café at Scottburgh’s Crocworld Conservation Centre continues to evolve to meet the needs of hungry KZN South Coast patrons while adhering to all Covid-19 health and safety regulations. The team from the Fish Eagle Café introduced the ‘Burgers in the Bush’ roadhouse café, an al fresco pop-up café hosted in the Centre’s lush parking area. This is set to continue every week day, from 9am to 4pm, with the menu expanding to include a diverse range of delicious meal options.

“We have been overwhelmed by the response to the roadhouse café which initially started on the weekends,” said Fish Eagle Café Executive Chef and Manager, Morne van Zyl. “Visitors said they were thoroughly enjoying the chance to dine out under the canopy of our exquisite coastal forest, with our indigenous fish eagles and palm nut vultures flying overhead. It is a truly spectacular setting with spectacular menu options to match!”

Visitors will be able to park at the Crocworld parking area in designated spaces to ensure correct social distancing. A roadhouse café staff member – wearing all required personal protective equipment – will provide visitors with a single-use menu that features the delicious takeaway offerings, as well as outlining all necessary Covid-19 health and safety measures. Once visitors have made their meal selection, they can flash their car lights to alert the waiter, who will radio the order through to the restaurant. Every order will be swiftly prepared and all takeaway containers properly sanitised before being delivered to customers for enjoyment in the car. Because of Covid-19 restrictions, there will be no ablution facilities available for visitors.

“We started with the traditional roadhouse menu of burgers and milkshakes, but now that we have the system finely tuned, we are excited to expand the range of meals that patrons can enjoy,” continued Van Zyl. “All meals will be freshly prepared, on-site, at the Fish Eagle Café, so there is minimal waiting time for our patrons.”

The well-priced, quality food offerings will include full breakfasts, toasted sandwiches, paninis, pies, loaded salads, schnitzels, eisbein, spare ribs, the famous Fish Eagle Café burgers, a range of drink options and a dedicated children’s menu – all prepared by the Fish Eagle Café’s renowned culinary team. The full menu will be available on the ‘Fish Eagle Café’ Facebook page, as well as at the roadhouse café itself.

Crocworld Conservation Centre is also hosting live video talks every Friday at 11am. Digital visitors of all ages can enjoy edutaining content as the Centre’s resident experts introduce some of the latest additions on the ‘Crocworld Conservation Centre’ Facebook page.
