Crocworld flying high after a bumper festive season

23 January 2025

The full festive season programme at Crocworld Conservation Centre attracted a large number of visitors to this Scottburgh-based centre. December got underway with the Crocworld Raffle, with the lucky winner of the incredible kids’ activity hamper prize, valued at R1 000, announced as Jackie Smit from Gauteng. This formed part of the 124th birthday celebrations for the centre’s celebrity; Henry the Nile crocodile, believed to be the oldest known Nile crocodile in captivity in the world. On his 16 December birthday, visitors enjoyed cupcakes from Crocworld while Henry’s best friend, Colgate – the second oldest and biggest croc in the park – lay alongside. Visitors also enjoyed the rest of the Crocworld holiday programme, including feeds and demonstrations, Crocworld Carols by Candlelight Day and Night Market, after-dark Jikaleza Outdoor Adventures ziplining, and the release of The WildED Crocworld Activity Book designed by South African children’s conservation book author, Kayleigh Huysamen from Wild Kids Books SA. In preparation for the festive rush, Crocworld had several revamps, including the repainting of the iconic Crocworld sign from the N2; and revarnishing the wraparound deck at the popular Fish Eagle Café; with new umbrellas providing necessary shade on those sunny summer days. The fun doesn’t stop here, there’s lots more in store for Crocworld in 2025!
